Guayusa Summer Iced Teas

Summer is always the season to remember, make it memorable with Waykana’s guayusa summer drinks to keep you energized all season long. 

Most of us want summer to last forever and the joy of the season brings people together and out into the world. Staying hydrated when the temperature rises allows the body to flush toxins, maintain vitamin balance, and support healthy brain function, all while keeping your body cool. 


Fuel up on natural energy with these Waykana guayusa summer inspired drinks. Take these recipes anywhere you go, serve them to guests, bring them along for a picnic, or enjoy them as you cool down from an outdoor workout. 

Waykana’s Guayusa Summer Iced Teas 

This recipe includes two easy to make summer iced teas, perfect for big batches to entertain or make and mix them in mason jars for an easy grab and go. 

These Waykana Guayusa iced teas are the perfect substitute to drinking water, are packed with flavour and are low in sugar. Remember, to preserve and enhance the flavour of your Waykana guayusa, remove the kettle from your stove, or switch off your electric kettle just before the water starts boiling. 

These recipes are proportioned to make two large (1 quart) mason jars, or about 2 litres (1 pitcher) of iced tea. 

Guayusa Lemon Basil Iced Tea 
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons of Waykana Guayusa Happy Jungle loose leaf blend
  • 6 cups of hot water 
  • Fresh basil 
  • Half a lemon sliced thin 
  • Honey

Instructions

  • Wash basil leaves and lemons before you start. 
  • Combine basil leaves, and lemon slices to a large jug/pitcher or mason jars. 
  • With a tea infuser, add 4 tablespoons of Waykana Guayusa Happy Jungle loose leaf tea   
  • Slowly pour hot water and allow the mixture to steep for 15 minutes. 
  • Remove the tea bags and gently stir. 
  • Place in the refrigerator for 4 hours to chill and allow flavours to mix. 

             
Guayusa Ginger and Berry Iced Tea
Ingredients 
  • 4 tablespoons of Waykana Guayusa Hibiscus loose leaf tea 
    • Fresh berries (raspberry, blackberry, strawberry)
    • 6 knobs of fresh cut ginger (peeled) 
    • 6 cups of hot water 
    • Mint leaves
    • Honey

    Instructions

    - Wash mint leaves and berries before you start. 

    - Combine mint leaves, ginger knobs, berries to a large jug/pitcher or mason jars. 

    - With a tea infuser, add 4 tablespoons of Waykana Guayusa Hibiscus loose leaf tea    

    - Slowly pour hot water and allow the mixture to steep for 15 minutes. 

    - Remove the tea bags and gently stir. 

    - Place in the refrigerator for 4 hours to chill and allow flavours to mix. 


    Waykana Guayusa Mint Mojito Mocktail 

    Mojitos are a well loved summer drink in many parts of the world. Our take on the classic mojito is in the form of a mocktail, pairing fresh citrus and fruit with mint and Waykana Guyausa.    

    Ingredients 

    • 4 tablespoons Waykana Guayusa Just Breathe Blend loose leaf tea
    • 2 tablespoons of honey/sugar 
    • 15 Cardamom pods (crushed)
    • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice 
    • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 
    • Fresh mint leaves
    • ¾ cup of hot water
    • Ice 
    • Fresh berries sliced for garnish (raspberry/strawberry)

     

    Instructions

    • Crush cardamom and combine with 4 tablespoons Waykana Guayusa Just Breathe Blend loose leaf tea to a measuring cup. Add ¾ cup of hot water and steep for 20 minutes. 
    • Mix mint leaves and honey/sugar in a separate bowl and bruise the mint.
    • Add lemon and lime juices and stir to dissolve honey/sugar. 
    • Strain the tea mixture and combine with mint and citrus juices. 
    • Add ice to 4 glasses and divide the mixture. 
    • Top with mint leaves, fresh berries and serve.
